Obsidian is volcanic glass.  There are a few kinds of obsidian (Snowflake, mahogany, rainbow, gold sheen, silver sheen, Apache tears), each more gorgeous then the next. Because in Chinese medicine, heat is pathology of the heart, obsidian is a stone associated with the heart.  If someone has heart pains, or heartache, there are many therapeutic ways to respond.  One can offer a hug, or help.  You can offer a smile, or hope.  What is the difference between help and hope?  What do you need, and what do you know how to offer?

Stones are considered part of the Materia Medica in many cultures (that means they are considered ingredients in medicines).  Even in the hospital, we still use Lithium as a sedative.  But the timeline along which stones evolve is much slower then say plants or humans, which means any healing they inspire will also last longer.

Stones have more to offer then their use in treating illness.  Try it! Pick a stone, and clean it first; it can be one you find, buy or already have. Do a scan of yourself, how your body feels, your current emotion, and what sorts of thoughts you are thinking before holding the stone.  Then repeat the scan after holding your stone for 5 minutes.

The Desert Rose pictured above is a fancy form of gypsum (main ingredient in tofu and plaster of Paris.).  But it is formed by lightning hitting sand in the desert, it’s beautiful right?   A desert rose can be used in Feng Shui to bring abundance into an area of your life.  Depending which school of geomancy  (Form, Black Hat or Bagua) you are using, you would place the Desert Rose in different areas of your home or work space to engender what you want to manifest.  Link to more information about schools of thought in Feng Shui.  Besides, they are just so pretty!

In Chinese medical philosophy, all of the organs in the body are given titles.  The heart is considered the emperor and houses the shen  or spirit.  The shen is the sparkle you may see in someone’s eyes.  The heart is also considered the conductor, and coordinates timing.  If you are always in the right place at the right time, then your heart is excelling at its job!

We are learning about EKG’s now, and it is amazing! At the same time we are also learning how computer technology is created in the form of specialized search engines.  Both of these are ways of taking unique ideas and energy and manipulating them into images that can be understood by many to mean the same thing.  An EKG takes the function of the heart (usually not visible), and makes it into a picture with symbols that have a universal meaning.  These search engines (such as ISABEL) allow anyone to plug in signs, symptoms and personalized information which will suggest differential diagnoses or other possible etiologies. Wow.  It seems complicated even to understand the process of making it, not to mention those who created it in the first place!!!

Can you recall 15 years ago, before cell phones, or twenty years before common access to the internet?  The closest thing we had to instantaneously being able to communicate was telepathy.  Someone, or many someone’s were able to bring an energetic concept of communication into physical reality.  What is the internet (especially IM and Chat)and text messaging if not a visual of people’s minds?

Sri Dharma Mittra gives examples of telepathy; if you, right now, think of someone across the universe and say “I love you”, the energy of that thought will be felt instantaneously.  Even light coming from the sun takes eight minutes to get to earth, right? Try it with some friends; ask them to think of you at, and check in later to see if you felt it at the same time.  Now send love to yourself, each moment you receive it you get stronger and give off more love. Wow.  Remember, you will attract to you a vibration that matches what you are emitting.  You can play with that too: watch a sad movie or pick an image that makes you sad, and witness who comes into your presence within the next hour (no fair if you stay alone in your room!).  Then dance around until you are laughing with joy.  Who comes up to you now?
